Meet Amanda
From a young age, Amanda’s love for animals knew no bounds. Growing up in a small town in Northland, New Zealand, she had an uncanny ability to find stray animals in need and bring them home, gradually creating a delightful menagerie of kittens, bunnies, puppies, birds—and even a calf that was destined for the meat works. For Amanda, this wasn’t just a childhood hobby; it was a defining part of who she was.
Even throughout university, Amanda continued to attract animals in need, adopting not one but two boxer puppies. However, when she moved to London for work and her big OE (Overseas Experience), there was a noticeable ‘pet drought’ that lasted a decade. During this time, Amanda met her future husband, welcomed their first child, and eventually returned to Auckland, New Zealand, to raise their growing family.
A decade later, in 2022, Amanda and her now active, outdoors-loving family—who relish skiing, mountain biking, horseback riding, hiking, and lake sports—decided to move to Wanaka to be closer to nature’s playground. Rusty, their six-year-old Vizsla, who is an inseparable part of the family, is living his best life running alongside Amanda on mountain bike trails throughout Wanaka. These adventures sparked a new idea in Amanda: to combine her passion for animals with her love of exploring the great outdoors.
Run Wild NZ
So, when the opportunity arose to acquire Odorable Petware from long-time Wanaka local Jools Hall and her Northland business partner Kim Pinkerton, Amanda seized it, and Run Wild was born.
Amanda is committed to making outdoor adventures accessible and enjoyable for every pet owner by providing the essential kit they need. Whether it’s pet backpacks that enable pets to join in on adventures they might otherwise miss, or pet life jackets to ensure their safety on the water, or hands-free dog leashes for hiking and trail explorations, the possibilities are endless.
Amanda’s expectations for the Run Wild product range are clear: every item must be functional, durable, stylish, and made with sustainability at the forefront, from material selection to ensuring product longevity.
For Amanda, Run Wild is more than just an online store—it’s a celebration of the bond between humans and their furry companions, fuelled by her lifelong passion for animals and her love of adventure.
